NOT GOODBYE - A poem

 NOT GOODBYE

"Sixty-six years," he said,
As we stood with him to say goodbye
To Mom we thought. Not he. Instead
With truer view to live, to die
Dad spoke to her as though in bed
She lay waiting, apt to cry
Until his words reached her, tho dead.
"Good night sweetheart, I'll see you soon."
His love soothing our broken hearts
From somber notes to buoyant tune
He was master of language arts.

© Ron Unruh - Composed December 9, 2015 remembering a November 2008 evening when our family gathered with Dad after Mom died.

  1. THOSE MOST PROBABLE TO FIND GOD'S TRUTH by steve finnell

Those most probable of finding God's truth are those who are honestly seeking God.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.(NKJV)

Why would anyone who is seeking God and His truth not start by praying that God would show them His truth and His truth alone. Only God has the complete truth.

God has only one book of His truth, that is the sixty-six books of the Holy Bible. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God.(2 Timothy 3:16-17)

    Bible commentaries are not Scripture.

Church creed books are not Scripture.

Book written by popular preachers are not Scripture.

Church statements of faith are not Scripture.

The writings of theologians are not Scripture.

So-called books of new revelation are not Scripture.

When the opinions of men conflict with God's Scripture, men end up uncertain of their salvation, lost, and alone.

  2. I would be interested to know why you wrote what you did as a comment to my post which was nothing more than a poem and neither that form or the content purported to be scripture or anything en par with God’s Word.
