A LOOK BACK

A LOOK BACK

Unlike the man who entered adult years,
Slim, strong and handsome, filled with confidence,
Although untested in life’s new frontiers.
Primed with hope to enjoy the consequence,
His scroll unfolded the applause of peers,
A constant stream of sincere complements,
Infrequently disturbed by tender tears,
Integral to the plan of providence.
He stands now observing in mirrored glass
Reluctant changes to that younger form
Experience contained in timeworn skin
He is time-honored with a touch of class
Blessed with relationships loving and warm
Treasuring memories of where he’s been.
